Blackberry Activation

Wireless Activation

With your BlackBerry device you can activate your handheld remotely on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server without physically connecting to your computer or sending your Blackberry unit in for service.

After your request for activation has been received and approved How do I request activation? ,you will be e-mailed a BlackBerry enterprise activation password.

Note: The password becomes invalid after five unsuccessful activation attempts. You must activate the handheld 48 hours after you request the password from your system administrator or it will expire. The password is only used once to initially activate the handheld. You do not need the password again after you have successfully activated your handheld.

To activate a newly purchased handheld, perform the following steps:

1. Verify that your phone wireless radio is on and that you are in a wireless coverage area.

2. From the Home screen, scroll to the Enterprise Activation icon and press the trackwheel.

If you do not see the Enterprise Activation icon, scroll to the Options icon, and press the trackwheel. Scroll to Enterprise Activation, and press the trackwheel.

3. In the corresponding fields, enter your corporate e-mail address and the activation password that was e-mailed to your account.

Note: Your handheld begins the activation process and starts synchronizing your e-mail, calendar, task lists, memos, and contacts. You will be able to start sending e-mails right away while the other items are synchronizing. When the process is complete, you will see a dialog box informing you of successful completion. To close the dialog box, tap OK. When activation is complete, the Enterprise Activation icon on the Home screen disappears.

Note: Your system administrator might request that you install the BlackBerry Handheld Manager on your computer to reduce the amount of data that is transmitted over the wireless network when your handheld is connected to your computer. If you install the BlackBerry Handheld Manager, you do not need to install the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
